Welp first time making a 24 fret neck and I drilled a fret marker dot on fret 23, rather than double dots on 24. Dern.

    What would you guys do?

    1) leave it

    2) cut off fret 23/24 and convert to 22 fret neck (I'd still have to patch a hole)

    3) drill it out, patch it, and redrill double markers on fret 24?

    4) just add double markers to fret 24

    5) replace fretboard since I haven't fretted yet.

    6) ??

Drill a double on 24 and replace 23 with something cool and significant (or cheap).

Match the grain and plug it. Don't use a dowel as it will be end grain, you need to get a plug cutting bit.

I'm sure you have already investigated that.... similar to plugging and redrilling tuning peg holes...I remember seeing a Dan Erlewine video somewhere selling the StewMac bits.

I'd leave it. It'll make it uniquely personal, or personally unique, and you'll still know where the 24th fret is.

Put one on the 11th fret as well. Make it symmetrical.

I’m with DougM. Leave it as it is. Would be a very unique look, and as he said - you’ll easily know where fret 24 is.

Stunning looking fb btw. What’s the project? More info would be nice. You may as well turn this into a build thread now. :D

Change 23 to some kind of inlaid symbol or word with a middle letter that's "o", and then drill a two hole inlay in 24.

Right now it looks weird, like it has too many belly buttons.

I say leave it. I don’t think it would take much to adjust to. It’s an optical illusion for guitar players.

Plus how often do you find yourself looking at those dots when you’re playing.

    Leave it.

No one needs markers on the 24th fret anyway.

    Fingers: Which one is it?
Brain: ITS THE LAST ONE DUH

I don't like the look of the double dot on that las fret, feels weird to me and makes me think that you want to attract attention ont the fact that you have more frets that necessary. It's not really usefull either.

I'd just plug the 23th with something dark and decorative, your logo, whatever, make it look like it was intentional.

I'd drill and chisel out a slot between the fret slots. Then I'd replace the wood with a rectangle/square of scrap with similar grain and direction. The space between the frets and a good joint should be enough to really hide it. Then I'd get a dot in the right spot. My thought is that by trying to make something out of it only accentuates that you screwed it up in the first place.
