Just appeared in my Reverb feed, seems like a good deal but not sure if I should jump on it.

Anyone here with any experience with these guitars, especially the V12 pickups. I know they aren't traditional humbuckers and their coil split isn't typical as each bobbin is it's only coil.

Why I hesitate, apart from the price, is I have a custom shop Espada on order which may do the same thing.

GAS is serious this time!

I bought one with the mfd Jazzmaster style pickups last year. It was $1000 used at GC and when I called the store (in another state) the manager I talked to said it was mint. When I got it it was beautiful construction was flawless like a new guitar. I set it up to my preference and played it 3 days. It just did nothing for me. Just a bland boring guitar in every way. This is from a guy who loves offset guitars. I’d been jonesing for a G&L for years but this one went back. That killed my G&L gas. My buddy had a Comanche years ago and I loved that one.

I mostly want it for the V12 pickups, Leo's last pickup design if I recall. It does true single coil and humbucker and has 15 different tonal variations based on the switches alone. Weight of this one is 9lbs so at the top end of my weight range (if it's heavier than a bass, I don't want it).

I like versatile guitars hence the interest in it (as well as ordering an Espada for the split P coil). Hum cancelling is a must for me as my basement apartment has bad RF from above so my Telecaster howls if I get the wrong angle.

Maybe it’s the pickguard, but other than the sunset coral, I don’t like the look of these. The gold is okay. The switching options seem like overkill - at least it would be to me.

I have wanted a Doheny for a while. There used to be a black Tribute with maple neck and black/block inlays at a local shop. I avoided playing it because I didn’t want to fall in love with it. I don’t often like black guitars, but I couldn’t look away from that one. Anyways, eventually I played it and I’m glad it did. It was… fine. It didn’t feel great. But it felt fine. It didn’t sound great. But it sounded fine. I still want a Doheny, but I didn’t want that Doheny. And that’s fine.

I doubt any of this helps you, OP, but I’ll be happy to hold off until I get a chance to play one of these myself.

I had a gold V12 and loved it but sold it to cure some other GAS. I love offsets that stray from the Jazzmaster formula. Scratch that itch!
