It’s the third Comanche I’ve had in the last 12 or 15 years. The first had a Birdseye maple neck that went south, “no pun intended”. I had the neck replaced but my best friend loved the guitar so much I gave it to him. The second (pictured above) is a hardtail also, my nephew got that. He plays it 5 hours a day, unbelievable guitar player.
I knew what I wanted when I ordered it, the hardtail is definitely the way to go. It’s a tad lighter and there might be some more low end. If you roll off the treble on the bridge “woman tone” all day. Make sure you get the C plus or the Modern profile for that extra string spacing too. My hands are large, so I prefer it.
I love the Comanche, it’s a rock solid guitar. Love G&L...

That hardtail is the "piece de resistance" imho. Please don't get me started on HT's lol.

    Stunning
I’d leave her as it is. Who knows, could prove to be valuable down the road ?
    Enjoy it

Nice guitar!! I’m curious as to how the Z-coil pickups sound.

Very nice! I love the Saddle Lock bridge; this is a very cool custom Comanche. Shame about the accidental logo delete, but if the guitar really grabbed me otherwise I suppose I would just keep it and not mess with anything.

I’m still on the fence, I don’t want to send her away to California. Got a great suggestion to send the neck by itself but I’m nervous about chipping the neck pocket if it’s super tight.
I’ve been playing it for hours, it’s so great.

    Well they’re noiseless, of course.
I have MFD pickups in an ASAT and these are a little rounder, very smooth. (The ASAT is also smooth).
They’re very gritty through the 5 watt STR Swart I have fully open. I’d say your sound falls between single coils and P90s, fat and smooth. The 2 and 4 positions are very Strat, perfectly done. She cleans up nicely through my Deluxe Reverb too.
It’s a great tool and will take you anywhere you want to go.

I would not send it anywhere. See if G&L will mail you Provence re: the logo delete; it would make interesting case candy.
And if you're on tour out there one day, you could drop in and get'er done.

A few of their models don't have the names on the headstocks: Doheny, 40th Anniversary S-500, etc. Seems to be a thing with them lately.

When you custom order you have to specifically ask for a logo delete, otherwise the logo goes on.
They might very well be doing that with the production line guitars, I have a Custom Shop ASAT with the logo delete.
To be specific this is not a Custom Shop guitar, It’s a custom order.

The finish is beautiful, and I don't see it listed anywhere on the G&L website. How did you get it?

They take custom orders at any G&L dealer. This is not a “custom shop” guitar, it’s a custom order.
Rockland Music, Axe Palace, Tulsa Band in Oklahoma, Sweetwater. They have several neck profiles, over a dozen finishes, this one is clear red over ash.
Have the dealer explain the neck profiles to you, my guitar has the C plus profile. It’s very similar to the 2018 American Fender Deluxe neck profile, a very popular thin C. The 1 11/16th nut width is similar to a Gibson, just so you have an idea.
The Modern Classic profile has a touch more beef to it.
He or she will have the whole list of options, bone nut is standard.
Satin, gloss, vintage tints on and on. Tremolo, saddle lock bridge. Good luck.

Has a alnico Telecaster bridge pickup in it. Modern Classic neck profile w/ghost flames. This guitar was built in 2018 but was not released till a few months ago. I’ve heard the family sometimes holds on to guitars. Don’t know if it’s true with this one, but I would definitely understand it.
Picked this guitar up in Tulsa Oklahoma, G&L dealer Tulsa Band.
I’m still trying to figure out how to pay my wife back. ;) Sometimes it’s just easier to say sorry.
