The Fiskars thread made me think about orange guitars. I don't need another guitar, but for several years I've been drawn to G&L's ASAT Bluesboy Semihollow. I saw a bunch of them on Reverb this morning, including some with recent price drops.

G&L could just be overstocked on the trans orange color. Also it's about time for G&L's annual color changes for the Tributes - it seems like it happens in the summer, around the time we used to have Summer NAMM shows - so maybe the trans orange is going to be retired and replaced by a new color for 2022-2023.

I had a G&L Tribute Bluesboy for a couple of years. Built as well as a Fender Player, great neck, very fun guitar. The pickups were good - except it did not feel or sound like a Tele at all.

The problem is they had to pair a powerful bridge pickup to blend with the neck humbucker. It's very much a crank the gain, stomp around, rock and roll guitar more along the lines of a LP Special with P90s as far as sound and feel. If you're open to that then go for it. If you want a classic sounding Tele, it's probably not for you.

Regarding the price drops, I’m noticing a general softening of the used market, at least here in California. Cost of living has increased and people are offloading gear to pay the bills.

I should have grabbed one, but around a month ago Musicians Friend had a "Stupid deal of the day" with an ASAT Bluesboy (not the thinline body though), for like $239 or some crazy crap.. I pondered it, by the time I went back to the site the deal had ended. Oh well.

I love the way my Bluesboy plays, but I hated the electronics. Did a complete upgrade and it sounds much better. The original neck pickup was so mushy that I found it unusable.

I went with Mojotone quiet coil Nocaster bridge pickup to match the 500K potentiometer rating for a custom H-90 neck pickup I had laying around. Probably going to put a Firebird pickup in the neck and repurpose that H-90.

looking back, it might have mostly been pairing that original pickup with potentiometers and capacitor rated for a single coil was a large reason it sounded awful to me despite playing so well.

Love my ASAT Deluxe. It does not sound like a Telecaster. Great guitars. I was about to pull the trigger on another ASAT but realized I just prefer a shorter scale length and have been lured over to PRS after playing a few. Semi-hollow and hollow. They also do not sound like Telecasters.

There are a lot of good deals out there right now. A lot of gear is up for sale if you are patient. And having succumbed to a recent bout of GAS, I can’t in good conscience talk anyone out of buying a guitar right now.

I picked one up used for $200.00 and used as a mod platform. Couple of TV Jones pickups and a new pick guard, great guitar for the money

Based on recent experience, I can't give enough praise to the G&L Tribute series. Just be willing to take it to your luthier for some dotting of the "I's" and crossing of the "T's"

I had mine immediately worked on. Cleaned up the frets along the neck edge, replaced the nut, as it was cut poorly. Once I got it back, holy cow! Man, it's such a killer guitar.

I like the ASAT design and the orange looks great. I’m a fan; here’s my casino in worn orange.
