I'm thinking of the G-Dec 30 as a practice device. In the promo materials, it says "The added Composition Mode also allows individual measures to be combined by the user into whole songs."

Does this translate into being able to program (or use a preset) with chord changes, instead of just staying on one chord?

Is there a better way to go: such as loop machine and headphones?

This thread should probably be moved to the amps forum.

Yes, you can program songs with chord changes. Most people do so on the PC and then transfer the songs to the g-dec via midi.

You will find g-dec forums, tons of info and presets listings here:

The g-dec 30 is a awesome practice tool. It has pretty much everything you need, drums, bass, songs, looper, CD or MP3 player inputs. I use the footswitch that you can get with it a lot.

But I also make use of a multitrack recorder. I have all my amps routed into it and I have quite a few songs stored on it. I can play along or record.
