I read all the reviews on this pedal before purchase and seriously considered the drybell.
The lovers of the mdv 3 mentioned 1 pot to adjust for more throb, most were satisfied with the results of turning that pot clockwise but, were concerned with issues of bulb life.
I have a new version and, it has three trim pots...again this unit is dated 2 26 18....so less than a month old.
I had the large cream colored dv back in the late 90s and it was mind blowing.
This mdv 3 has left me underwhelmed......so far......
Here are the settings of the three pots. By the way, one pot is north of the dog house and the other two are just under the doghouse.

Pot 1 north of the doghouse....is labeled exp max. So expression pedal max.

The two below the doghouse are sym and intense.
Looking at the early photos of the mdv 3 l saw only one trim pot.....the three trim pots in my recent addition look way better from a quality standpoint.
I have not touched any of the pots yet,by the way......yet.

That's too bad. I have the grey, second version and love it.

It...a full explanation of the uses of those 3trim pots...sounds like a job for Fulltone.
Is there not a manual with the unit?? If I had no manual, my curiosity would have me understanding what they do by listening, turning them, listening, turning...etc.

But the OP says his unit has three internal trim pots whereas the manual linked above has only one...or mentions only one trim pot. ?????

Mine came with the manual showing how to adjust the single trim pot. So, when I opened it up to adjust that single pot I found three.
Maybe this is a recent change?
The pedal was shipped from fulltone two weeks ago.

I hear they can be a bit cranky over there at fulltone.
I'm sure i will play around with the pots at some point.

E emailed fulltone yesterday. Will they get back to me? Who knows lol.
I asked if they could send an updated Manual and if they could explain the revisions.
This unit is has a longer board with more components added.
Again this is the custom shop blue mdv 3 with the cutout tredell.it says custom shop within a circular logo on both sides and on the removable cover on the underside of the pedal.
I looked on Google images and couldn't find one photo of a mdv3 that looks exactly like mine on the exterior or the circuit board.
I'm hoping these changes were made to compete with the dry bell as that is a great sounding vibe.

there is a link to the new manual on their site which gives explanations of the three trim pots, but they do recommend not adjusting them

Seems the are ok with adjusting the one pot that controls the throb and Simi ok with futzing with bulb intensity.
Reminds me of my first girlfriend.
