Such a deal!
Why would you want a pearloid back pickguard?? So you can switch it between your right and left handed guitars? That's silly
Not as silly as the vendor who cannot tell his left from his right, or maybe he thinks left handed guitars were not made in the late 60's early 70's.
Actually, the 1969 pick guards did have a pearoid back and if authentic, which it appears to be, seems to command a pretty good price. I've seen them go for upwards of a thousand dollars.
A lot of them ended up like this:
I have a 68 exactly the same as that - bought it new that year and put in a PAF in 69.
Why in the hell would they put the pearloid on the back? I mean, yeah yeah, vintage market artificially inflated prices blah blah. What was the reasoning behind putting the pretty side down?
If I ever spend that much for a pickguard, I hope someone will see to it that I get the help I need. PLEASE!
Hmmmm. That gives me an idea....I have a left-handed pearloid-back pickguard. That has got to be extremely rare! I'd be willing to let it go for a measly 300 bucks. And I'll throw in free shipping just to show what a good sport I am.
Okay, sure, it was originally a right-handed pearloid-front pickguard, but who's gonna know?
