I've taken people (groups, my team etc) out to eat many many many times... just so you know, the person you are describing self limits through all this stuff. It NEVER bothered me to see it and pay for it. Not Once... The lack of self awareness, the lack of being able to see themselves in space and understand the impact of his actions... the end up limited in their careers...

I'd always prefer to be the person stuck with the bill and the one responsible than hoping for a free lunch... NEVER take a free lunch because, you know, it ain't free mang.

Probably ten or twenty. I would skulk furtively in and out of the room, trying to look as though each time through the line was my first, gorging myself on pizza and dying from the shame of my complete lack of control when it comes to pizza.

I spend a lot of time alone at lunch reading in my car (physical books) and walking around the "lake". I will still go out with co-workers if that is what is happening that day. I enjoy keeping up with other people too, but that is like once a month.

Who the hell eats four pieces of pizza for lunch? I mean, were they tiny slices or something?

You can't worry about the pizza, you have to worry about where those generic-looking USB keys that are sprinkled about the office came from and why the pizza delivery guy took a suspiciously long bathroom break once you let him in.

Back when I went into the office I'd eat out in my car and then play guitar a bit, in the car on cold or rainy days, on a stool sitting outside in the shade on nice days.

If it's anything like one of my kids' birthday parties...my SIL and her brood will show up, pile 3 or 4 slices each onto a plate and be dammed who else gets any.

If you're hosting a party, do you put out the cheap wine and hide the best wine for yourself?

Usually, when a thread goes on for this long, I start thinking of a Jackson Browne song to describe the situation....

    Yup.

That's why I really get nervous when someone tells me he's doing something for me, for free. He's donating his salary, he says. The strings that are attached, are not worth it.

Large pizza cut into 8 slices. That's HALF A PIZZA. They made it seem less obvious by going to several other boxes that were placed a good distance from one another.

How did you keep track of what they were taking? I'd have to use a speadsheet.

    1) Bi-yearly training on computer security, that includes NOT using USBs for really any reason.
    2) Secure facility. The events room is at the front of the building along with a bathroom for the public. Can't get into anyplace with a computer without a proper access.

I didn't count everyone's pizza. I just stood back and observed the first 10 or so people that went through the line. Just for curiosity sake.

True story. My brothers. Cork Dorks. One even more so than the other.... Lesser cork dork brother always brings wine to superior cork dork brother's house when invited for dinner (which superior one does as well). Lesser dork really enjoys wines from Amador region of California, so has brought several "nice" bottles ($40-$50)....

Lesser cork dork's wife having a party and making sangria, so asks Superior Cork Dork's wife to bring some wine. She brings several bottles of the Amador wine that had been gifted to them....
