Eric Johnson plays a free show "Blues on the Green" at Rock Island in the middle of Zilker Park (where the Austin City Limits Festival is held). The show is at 7:30 pm Wednesday. Eric has a new CD and will be showing off some of the licks he picked up from this other Austin Guitar God.

    Where to park?

    Under MOPAC or what?
Maybe I'll ride my bike, but it's a long way home after a few beers to Mount Bonnell. (note to self, beer not a good idea).......
Never been to those Wednesday KGSR shows before.
Can you hear the band, worth it, etc?

Parking for Blues on the Green

You can park in Zilker. $3.00 goes to the Park and Rec Dept. Here is a link with details.

From MoPac you are in good shape if you loop around at Bee Cave Road and swing back north on the service road. Parking is between Barton Springs and MoPac. No glass containers but you can bring kids, dogs, family, your own food. Supposedly no alchohol. You can bring your own camping chairs, blankets. Sunscreen is a Must. A Segway would be nice. An umbrella is good until the sun goes down a bit behind the trees to the west. You can get as close as you want (or can stand).

The artists normally sell and sign their CD's after the show. Eric is super about doing this. Eric is a great player and a very nice guy and this is a chance to see Austin's Musician of the Year just before he heads off to tour Japan.

Well, I've heard Eric is a nice fellow. And I'll go so far to say that Eric is a major influence on my guitar playing. But, Redd, the day Eric Johnson puts a whuppin' on you is the day I announce my bid for the Presidency of The United States Of America. (While dressed up exactly like I am in my avatar, too.)

No }>(#!^@ way, Redd. No, sir. ;)

    My guess...

is when a couple A-Team pickers & fine fellows meet,
they both walk away thinking "I wish I could play like THAT guy".

So was this pic from one of the Hay bale shows? Wish I could have seen it!

One of these days I'll get back over there to take a sneak pic at some of your licks. Play me some polka's so I can get ready for the German boys!!!!

    na na!
I'm one of the german boys.
I play in a german/ american band. Redd told me that's all he played was polka's and stuff when he was in canada.

But I'll let you know when the germans are coming since I'm an american!

When I read the title, I thought that maybe EJ was in jail or something  (like Free Willie).

But seriously, seeing EJ for free is a great deal. Some folks think that he is boring to watch. But he does know how to play some mean licks.

    Have fun!
