Well spotted! I have watched this whole show at least 200 times since it came out, but never noticed it! It is a Performance Strat that was sold on an auction for nearly 80k - a bargain by all means in comparission to other celeb guitars -, and the shim must have something to do with the Floyd, maybe?

I would imagine so. It is quite a chunk of hardware that likely stands a little higher than a standard bridge. But some players simply prefer the strings a little farther away from the body. Keep in mind, He played allotta SGs and LPs over the years, which have a significant neck angle to work with the taller TOM bridges.
