A question for those that know!
I am making a new partscaster and would like to put some Fralins in it. Could the following be clarified?
1. Is the blues special just an overwound vintage hot pickup?
2. Has anyone tried the 5%,bridge, 2%neck, and compared against the blues special? Or are they practically the same?
3. Does a nickel cover, or even the half cover actually make a difference ?

Many thanks in advance

i just bought a set of fralin split blades, blues output, to go in a new Tele partscaster build.

i had it pretty dialed in what i wanted,
based on research, listening to vids,
but bottom line is,
i called Fralin directly.
asked questions, got answers.

good guys, call,
or fill out an on line questionaire...
got responses to mine same day.

I have no financial interests here but you may wish to speak with Tom Brantley of Brantley Rewinds. He worked at Fralin for years and may be able to supply you with a custom wind at a reasonable price.

They are overwound stock pups, now known as Vintage Hot.
I have a pair in my Tele, and love them.

I have sets of both the vintage and the blues specials in two of my Telecasters. I like them both, but I still prefer his vintage set to the blues specials. It just depends on what tone you are looking for. Blues Special are definitely darker than vintage, but not overly so. It also depends on what body wood you are using.

Frailin use to have a policy that as long as you don't cut the leads, you can exchange them if they don't measure up to your expectations. You might want to check on that and see if that is still an option.
