I'm a collector. Two of my favorite collections are banjos and Springfield M1873 rifles.

Back in the early days of the Usenet groups, I went thru a variety of handles, for music (rec.allmusic) I tended towards silly. Eventually I was called "the rudest man alive" by somebody I had publicly scorned...and I instantly adopted that. Long gone.

In the firearms fora, I usually used the caliber I was currently competing with. 45-70, 45-90, 35-40, etc.

When ebay came around, I had two items on my workbench: a Gibson resonated tenor banjo from the 20s (aka: "Trapdoor Gibson") and a Springfield M1873 (aka: Trapdoor Springfield). I chose "trapdoor" but it a was already taken...so I incremented numerically. I've been using that one for everything ever since.

On other forums, I have used my middle name and last initial, but there was a controversial business executive whose first name was my middle name, and we have the last initial, and his last name is eastern European, with a lot of consonants and not many vowels.

So people on the forums would call this controversial business exec by my forum name.

At the time when I first registered here, I didn't have a Telecaster. I had a Gretsch 5120, a Fender Precision Bass, and a Squier Strat. Chester is the first name of the designer of the Gretsch, better knows as Chet Atkins.

Funny thing, all three of the chords I know are triads.

I may have stumbled upon a fourth chord. I've heard stories that there were more. Somehow, Knows4chords just doesn't have the same ring to it.

I wondered as well. Then one of my house concert hosts and I had a conversation about it one night, and the next time she booked me, she’d found a bottle.

It was terrible. We drank it. But good lord it was AWFUL.

The name I wanted was taken, so I used my actual name "vith a tvist". This is one of 2 names I use, and I use whichever one isn't taken on that particular forum. If I was smart, I would have come up with a name from some random letters arranged in vowel-consonant-vowel-consonant-etc format so as to have a unique name everywhere I go, but I am not normally a clever man.

My screen name is an homage to the book "Zen Guitar" by Philip Toshio Sudo. It inspired me to look at my playing in a completely different way.

I enjoy being an engineer, and I like twang sounds.

I also enjoy thrak, plink, kerang and chugga-chugga sounds. Throw in a dash of weed-a-la, weed-a-la and some woooo woooo woooo and call it a day.
