A lot of these bands posted are not forgotten by me, I still listen to them from time to time.
Here's a few forgotten 80's bands friends of mine were in.
I'm sure not forgotten in Ireland but sadly somewhat in the USA...
I'll take the 80's over those 90's bands whining about how "miserable" their privileged lives were. The 90's should be forever known as the "First World Problems Decade", because that's what that era was all about. Oy!
Seems to me that lots/most of these selections are big hit bands that are far from forgotten. How about some lesser known stuff that never got regular rotation on MTV and stayed regional? Goofy verses but a hooky chorus that's been in my head for decades.
The Hooters were a great guitar band (Telecaster and Les Paul Junior!) who put a keyboard spin on their music and turned it into MTV hits. Get past the image and you'll find good songwriting and good musicians. They weren't afraid to put mandolin front and center in pop rock music.
Good to hear Guadacanal Diary again - miss that Jangle Pop sound.
Couple of my favorite from the jangly side of the '80s:
What about forgotten rock bands of the 70's?? It's 1973. Most people wouldn't know it wasn't 80's, and not a Marshall amp. Les Paul -> Triangle Big Muff -> Tweed Bandmaster...
