I know sooner or later some sensitive individual who thinks we should shave whales, take all the trees and put em in a tree museum and travel to Uranus is going to get their feelings hurt. So maybe we should just stop, or call em a sissy and have fun.

I'm willing to bet these guys sold more records than the entire membership of TDPRI combined... so what?

Honestly, the original post provided me more entertainment than Styx ever did.

...except this song. This one's so comically overwrought that it's epic in its awfulness. EPIC!

I loved, and still love, Sweet Madame Blue. Father O.S.A. was also wonderful. My favorite song by Styx was written by John Curulewski, (the Styx band member that left and was replaced by Tommy Shaw). It was titled "A Day" and followed "Lady" on Styx II. Give it a listen. It's a head trip stoners dream!

Out standing in the parking lot begging people to listen to them. That's funny.

I heard Dan Aykroyd's voice when I read your post.

I like Styx, but I saw that giveaway… so lame. That’s maybe worth a couple hundred maximum.

they’re selling one ticket for more than that, I’m assuming.

That's a good point. Back in the mid eighties a solo player contest was being held at a local club. First prize an autographed acoustic guitar. Can't remember the band doesn't matter. The guitar was one of the cheapest things you could buy at the time probably didn't cost $70. I remember how cheap people considered this to be. A third of the players just left the club. It was like an insult, here's a band taking your hard earned money for tickets and throwing out scraps.

Not a fan, but what's with all the nastiness? Very unlike the tdpri I've come to know and love.

Comically overwrought! That’s exactly the term I was looking for this afternoon when I listened to (half of) Pieces of Eight to remind myself if it was still as bad as it was last time I heard it decades ago. It was!
