So we have a gig on May 22..... There I fixed it so people could read the whole thing.....
Kinda lets you know where you stand.
I say that out of empathy, not arrogance.
Hopefully they can correct the problem.
If the band has been invited back 2x after the first un-titled show, they must have been sorta satisfied.
Any way to modify the signage?
Captain obvious here - next time, the contract specifies actual billing on promo.
Glad to hear you're gigging.
Peace - Deeve
I wouldn’t get too wound up over it. The only way I’d see it as an issue is if your band name would draw a significantly higher number of people than a poster without it will. And even in that case all they’ve done is shoot themselves in the foot some.
I’ve been “live music” plenty of times.
Well, it might've been an honest mistake. Keep in mind that people and orgs have been basically shut away for a year, so things are bound to be a bit squirrely for a while... so things like this wouldn't surprize me, really.
I was surprised because we had a bout a 3 or 4 exchanges of emails about it.....anyway thanks for the replies....i guess its a pretty common thing, judging from the replies.
I think change your band name to 'live music' and only cover dead songs!
the only thing that humbles like that is when you show up to load in and another band is ahead of you.... and you drove 2.5 hours to get there....
Maybe the flyer was made before your booking was confirmed?
Not uncommon. Organizers copy formulas and templates from websites, training, mentors and "live music" is one of the boxes. "budget x percent for live music, and list with the primary features on the flyer, then....". Its kinda goofy, but now established.
Just be sure to "introduce" your band between every single song.
I am playing a "Breast Cancer Benefit" with a friend at my local bar at the end of May.
Yesterday I saw the sandwich board advertising the benefit party and discovered that I am part of a "2 Piece Band"
Given that we go under the name "Plumber's Craic" for these affairs, that may be a wiser advertisement and less likely to cause confronting mental images for potential patrons..
Got a big printed banner or backdrop with your band name and contact details?
Better to be called, Two Piece Band than Two Bit Band!
Yer gettin' paid, who cares what your band name is ce24!
Heck, you didn't even post your band's name in this thread!
No real reason to get pissed, unless you run around
looking for it.
The posters were probably printed before you were booked. I wouldn’t stress out. You got the gig go have fun.
That would require us to be paid two bits more than we are getting for the benefit.
Oh, you want a gig AND get paid?
The nerve of some people!
If you’re playing mostly originals, Yeah, I’d be bummed. If you’re playing mostly covers and mainstream covers that most people know (and there’s not a thing wrong with that), then no, I would not be pissed, but would make sure everyone there knew your name by the end of the set.
If the check is good...
Add me as someone who has appeared as "Live Music."
I am thinking of having Del Shannon's "Runaway" in the set list and that way when the audience are crying ''WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY'' it won't seem so offensive.
