Yes I definitely have to elevate them. I gotta do research as to how high to make the stands lol

This is vintager. Although "hi-fi" part is up for debate. But it runs on tubes, so it must be better. Packard-Bell, roughly '65(?)

Basically, you want the speakers at ear level while in your recliner. For the proper vibe, you could go with 2 stacked album cubes under each speaker.

Damn, I had that very same Akai reel-to-reel! I used to volunteer at a local college radio station, and I didn’t want to play my personal records on their rather well-worn turntables (backward queuing and all). I’d record my program music on reel-to-reel and play that instead on one of the station’s decks.

A lot of cool gear! I love the Marantz, I had a similar turntable those years back and honestly don't remember what happened to it.

I'll bet you are glad you didn't "garage sale" that stuff! I still have my 80s era Harman/Kardon stuff and Bose 501s. But I have added a subwoofer that really fills in the bottom end.

How did you add the sub? I have an integrated amp with only l/r speaker outs and was thinking of adding a sub if I can

You send your speaker leads to the sub, then leads from the sub to the speakers. The SW will typically have an adjustable crossover and cut the bass to your speakers, saving wear on the the woofers. Most SWs will have a line in as well, if your amp has a line out/SW output.

Or better yet, a shelf made of cinder blocks and boards, with some plants in macrame hangers above the gear, so your wife can "water" the hifi.
