Keep the pics coming. To me they're additional research material for me (watch this space as they say). I must confess those Tokai's are very good, not so sure about paisley on a LP or SG, but still very good. That vintage 69 I'm quite sure that it's a Japanese reissue, when you've filled many years of your life trying to clone that finish there's certain qualities to the finsh that makes them identifiable. Please post more if you have them.

Agreed. There are certain colors/patterns in the guitar in the photo that were not in the originals.

Love the Tokai Paisley teles. I bought one new back in about 83 / 84, I still have the the receipt somewhere so I ought to be able to say to the exact day. Think I might start using the guitar a little bit more.

That's more like it. Has anybody noticed the difference in the bursting of the originals? Some, like the above have little colour around the edges, others have an inch or more of solid colour. Strange painting going on in them days eh.

I vote the 1st one as my favourite, but I'd take any of them given the chance. Keep them coming please, there's a number of pics that you've posted that I've not seen before. As mentioned before - good research material.
Not to hijack your thread but, if you could have a good replica of a vintage paisley would you choose: a, pink and silver as per a timewarp 68. b, red and gold as an aged 68. c, as b but with the pink/silver pickguard area?

the funkier the better for me...No timewarp...I LOVE the photos of the 68's I posted above..Can really choose one...One has gold edges and heavy purple neck pickup area..The other has purpling around the edges..which I never see.. But yeah..aged...ambered..purpled..whatever...

I thought you'd say that! Most seem to prefer that criteria. Be paitent, prototype heading to this forum soon. It's winter in the UK so I have to be carefull with painting, but it's coming. You may have to wait for the fully aged, purpled and gold version a bit longer but, it's my aim to one day to have the choice of any variant. Keep the pics coming.

I don't know what it is but paisley guitars seem to awesome to me; especial the blue tele print. I wish they made these models affordable again.

I have been a paisley lover since I saw James Burton play one about 30 years ago. It took me a long time to find a unmolested one and to afford one, but I did.

Nice looking Teles -- vintage, reissue, Tokai, all of 'em.

The paisley LP just looks...wrong. But the same finish looks great on the SG. Go figure. Looks like something Clapton might've played back in his big-curly-perm days. :D

    I have always wondered why...

Fender did not put the paisley finish on a stratocaster back then. They just did it on the tele and the bass, but never on the strat. I think they should have reissued them with the old style paper, instead of that gross paprer they use now. I bet if they reissued it as a limited time usa, with the old paper, they would have gotten a lot more takers.
