Raising my hand from Sarasota County. Live in North Port  and work in Sarasota. We are just about an hour south of Tampa down I-75/2-75.

Sarasota County here! I live in Venice and play in a band called The Apple Scruffs. Check us out at the Sun Fiesta!

I'm from Tampa, but now live in Tokyo, Japan. My parents still live there so I'm back every year.

Thought I'd post some pics the wife took a couple years ago of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlins house on Cross Creek. Couldn't believe it when I found out at 17 that she was not from FL originally. Don't know why they didn't use this in the bio pic, least I don't think they did. Nice old cracker house though:

I thought I had more. Sorry. Here's some of a cracker house in Newberry. It's the Dudley Farm. You can visit both.

The last is a cracker pony. These are the small horses the Spanish brought over that the cracker cowboys would use while gathering cattle from the swamps and woods. There are a few breeders in FL.
Anyway I like FL history and thought I'd share that with y'all. Anyone else got some cool FL pics?

This is a picture of a very popular stop along the Intracoastal Waterway(Indian River) back in the late 1800s. The Edenlawn Plantation is still there, partially. right on one of the most scenic drives in Florida, IMO. only about 8 miles from my house!

You're welcome, Gatorfiend!
btw, my son lives in Gainesville, in a band called Hot Graves. I'm not too fond of death metal, but to each his own!!

another btw.....I was born in Key West long ago, my dad was a commercial shrimper at the time, and our house was a block from the Hemingway house! I sure wish I had pics of the era, but I don't.

I'm ashamed to say there was a time I listened to death/black metal as well, but as you say to each his own.
If you find any more pictures let's see them. Florida has been overdeveloped so it's fun to see how parts looked before.
I keep wanting to go to the keys, amongst other things I'd like to go see the the doll Robert. You can check him out online, I've not been South of the St. Pete area so there is lots of the state that I've not seen.
I want to try to go to the Everglades this summer.

Don't be ashamed about death metal, no reason to be ashamed of any genre of music anyone likes! It's all personal preference. I just brought it up thinking you may know or have heard of my son. Has done a lot of DJ work previously as Mr. Bambu (I think).
Other bands, By the Horns, Kitchens of Soul.
Back on topic, I do have some old pics from the Treasure Coast area, but they are quite small and blowing them up to a viewable size makes them somewhat grainy. So I'll try and come up with some better pics.
