I lived in Northern Va my whole life but moved to North Port about 13 months ago. It is a difficult adjustment, but I'm hanging in there.

LOL . . . yeah I hear ya, but I wish things would dry out a little. My grass grows so fast I can hardly keep up with it, especially since my yard is still squishey under the mower wheels.
I have a Panther in the woods behind my house that chases the rabbits that live under my shed, it ran 10-12 feet in front of me in a pursuit.
Not to mention the Raccoons and Opossums that visit at night
but I had those in Va. Overall I am getting acclimated to Florida and will eventually adapt to life here. I can handle the rain, and the wildlife but the FIRE ANTS
have got to go! . . .
