I saw them a couple of times in the early 80's. I like Chrome more, but Flipper have their place in the pantheon of SF Punk. After Generic, they were never as good. Super early live performance:

I saw Flipper for the first time opening for PIL at the South of Mission Cultural Center. A great show ,great crowd , good vibs , johnny liked us more than the L.A. crowd, he told them they were disgusting or something like that
Flipper did an extended jam while the vocalist chanted drop kick. I could tell the the three people playing instruments had an agreement , but,o_O I could not figure out what it was, but they were entertaining, like a dadaist anti-band.;)
