I haven’t had any issues with the switch on a tele being in the way, but having the volume closer sounds like a plus.

So I’m keeping my G&L stock, and my double/triple got flipped.

I’ll try them both out the next few weeks and see what I end up preferring.

    Who likes flipped and why?

    I prefer flipped.
Like you, the closer volume knob is great, and as a switch-smasher, I need that switch out of the way.
    Great guitars!

    I've got mine flipped. Meh.

I don't ride the controls that much for it to make a difference to me.

I've been thinking about flippin', I ride the volume knob a lot, and on my HH guitars is always within reach of my pinky. With my Tele I have to look down to find it. Decisions decisions...

Just depends on which do you do more, volume changes or selector changes. Personally, I change pickups more than I ever do volume.

I like to do volume and tone swells, so...I flipped my lid. My controls too.

Flipped... and it will stay that way.

Volume at end, and 4 way order changed so parallel rather than series is at end.

    Very gig friendly.

Whoa the dark side! They might lock this thread....

    Just kidding.

I got guitars both ways and can't seem to commit to either.

I had to extend some wires, and change the tone cap configuration on the Fender to flip it, but on the G&L the wires were long enough to flip it just a few minutes.

So I got em both flipped now. Both would be easy to flip back.

I was going to buy the GC FSR with the flipped plate and flip it back - but then everything is upside down .

I'm a flipper, but at the same time I swopped the control plate for one where there is more space around the selector switch. Much better WP_20170104_16_57_00_Rich.jpg

I just flipped the first one. Really cool not to be accidentally switching pickups while playing. Of course first time playing it I turned the volume down a couple of times by accidentally hitting the pot :D

@Dobronaut, where did you get that modified control plate? Made it yourself or?

I was sure that I was going to like a flipped control plate. None of my Teles had wire long enough to flip it to test it, until I got a used CVC last summer. I flipped it without changing any of the wiring or knobs just to see how I liked it and I couldn't get on with the way it felt with the knobs directly below the bridge pickup. I do a lot of volume swells so I thought that I would love having the knobs closer to my hand, but in the end it just felt cramped to me and I switched it back. I was disappointed because I thought it would open up my volume swell technique, but I guess it was just not meant to be for me. All my Teles have a regular control pad orientation now.

that is the reason why you have to re-align the pots to , vol, tone, switch when reversed then you can access the the volume pot for the swells...
My Tele is an affinity ( so cheap wiring and cheap pots etc) it also gave me the oportunity to replace them with Fender CTS 250K pots an orange drop cap and a proper Fender 3 way switch. ( my pickups sounded great so I kept them )

Yeah it’s not just flipping the plate.

Volume pot, tone pot, then switch forward neck, rear bridge and however many middle positions you have depending on your switch.

This one had a switch/vol/jack for a single humbucker.

I added a tone and got rid of the switch.

I flipped mine and scooted the volume as close to my pinky as possible. Coming from strats, I am just now learning to deal with the tele volume knob.....It may as well on the headstock..

    That’s nice.

I have never had a complaint with the strat volume knob, I love the position of it, I just dont need so many tone knobs...
