My very first electric guitar in the mid 70's was a Teisco Del Ray along with a Gigantic Sun Amp, both of which my father picked up at a garage sale. I used them for awhile but they were not cool like all my friends guitars so I sold them for enough money to buy a Strat neck and an Explorer body to make some ugly yellow thing that I eventually got rid of.

    Kids do stupid things.

You can always refinish it, but you can never UNDO stripping the current finish off.

Like the time I covered my white 1979 Guild S60-D in Disney stickers and allowed the guitar finish to fade around them!

i bet a dollar the old guy who owned the tele passed away and he played it through that yamaha amp, those older yamahas sounded killer for cleans. wild speculation on my part of course.

Yes, since this is likely the greatest thread in TDPRI history, let's get it fired back up! More news?

Sorry- I’ve been in a holding pattern with a packed family calendar. I have not gone to Nashville yet. Sorry to leave you hanging!

Almost looks like a '60s MIJ guitar.

Cheers for the pics! That finish is so choice esp with the black guard. I'd leave it as it sits were it mine.

Everything is pretty much as I found it – so no on the fix. I don’t wanna do a thing to it until I have them check it out and give me the appraisal at Gruhn. Just been in a holding pattern.

One thing you could try, is to look at old photos of local bands in your area which might just show it in one of them. On the other hand, if you get too many guys interested in it, you might get scammers who insist it was their guitar and it was stolen etc. etc.
Is the small diagonal wiring routing near neck pickup, just a semi-circular section rout .? It looks that way in your photos. 60's as far as I know were square sided same as pickups. I believe this was dropped in early 70's.
    Mike.

Charlodius THANK YOU!!! for letting us live vicariously. I absolutely love the current as is finish...its like authentic weathering...as for me I'd hate to be looking 12yrs old even though I got 61 years on the road.
