Hello, I'm rebuilding my first amp project 5e3 tweed deluxe following robrob deluxe mods. I have standard 5e3 chassis and plan to omit the standby switch and shift the existing 3 knobs over one hole to install a master volume potentiometer, but the existing light hole is 11/16" and the cts mount holes are 3/8". Is there a sleeve or adapter for putting pots into larger holes? The existing tone pot would move over to the panel light hole. Alternatively, I can use larger washers/locking washers to get a decent fit but a sleeve or adapter would be preferable. Thanks

There are shoulder washers that will help, not sure will get you all the way though. Aren't those switch holes 5/8"?
You will have to manually ground the pot with a wire, but there are some steel shoulder washers out there if you can find the right ones.
Check Mouser Electronics etc: https://www.mouser.com/datasheet/2/990/1510144-1821595.pdf

You're going to move the light into another hole you'll enlarge?

Might be easier to use shielded cable and just go around the fuse and light. Mine is perfectly quiet, and carries a much more sensitive signal, that from my 'adjustable' V1 coupling cap.... You could use 4-conductor mic cable like Rob shows on his mods page. Some folks move the power switch to the standby slot, but you still have to go around the light, and this was less rewiring.

Thanks for the tips. I was going to use shielded wire on the input so I will move the volume knob if i can't find suitable shoulder washers.

That's a good call, KF. I just bought my first ever drilled and screen printed chassis and I was wondering the exact same thing about where to put a MV.

Well I am doing some goofy things with a tweed chassis too and have had to make several stepped washers to deal with existing holes.
If you have or know someone that has a metal lathe its pretty easy to make these sorts of things from rod stock.

In my case I am putting a Blackverb circuit in the tweed with bass/mid/treble/volume and have converted a couple of the intake jack holes to holding mini switches for bright and NFB.

Unless you feel the need to ground the pot carcass/bushing, you could use a piece of sheet metal epoxied to the back side of the chassis (with a 3/8" ø hole); or even plastic sheet, so long as the temperature wouldn't deform the epoxy or plastic.

And if you need the pot carcass to be grounded, you could always do that with a wire and terminal.
