I think the repair job is a winner I'm glad you didn't turn it into a "feature"....LOL.
so aiming to order the bridge/neck plate/skrews/tuners mon/tues.
now a question about the finish,
i was thinking of oiling the mahogany and only lacquering the spalted top.
i have no xp with oils, what would you think if i oiled the top also?
hehe thanks buddy,me to it went well,as for the fret level? i bit the bullet and went ahead without, little bit of leveling to do
You could use Tru-oil, make it a little shinier.
yeh i want it fairly shiney,so i like tru oil, whats tung oil like?
Like spit. I have no idea buddy.
My experiences are with oil finishs that contain some varnish. I've had good luck with Watco Danish oil. I haven't used Tru oil, but it is popular in the forum here.
Nice job on the fretboard repair! Like it never happened!
like what never happened? thanks pal
i can get danish in my local, but which one do you think,if you can see the types?i want to keep the timber finish on top and not go to dark on the back/neck, maybe just clear coat the fret board? hmm
sorry forgot to put the picture up hehe
