Like many of you, I have a dozen amps 'in the pipeline', but my very next build, I am determined will be a first gen Sunn Model T.

I have acquired a schematic and layout of a bassman, and a schematic of the Model T and am pushing the limits of my limited electronics skills by trying to translate the differences to a new layout.

What do you know?
What can you tell me?
Has it been done?
Do you have any gut shots of an original to share?
Do you have specs for transformers and chokes?
Do you have chassis dimensions?
Has anyone done a verified layout?

Thank you all

RunJMC & Wally,

The Sunn really just adds a master volume to a very 5F6A-style preamp circuit. The big difference is the 4-tube, 6550, ultra-linear power amp Wally pointed out. With that tube complement, you'd get around 140 watts of output according to the data sheet...if you had a half amp of high voltage and a monster output transformer. My ears ring just thinking about it.

It is famous for its being outrageously loud and never being clean. I need to hear one in the flesh - and with most vintage gear, unless you're minted, you're gonna have to do it yourself

bwacke, Okay, I finally saw that pre amp gain control after I went back to the schematic.
The only Sunn I have had was a 1200S with the 6x12 cab. 4 X 6550's, 2 X GZ34 rectifiers, UL OT.....
