    Yikes...
Just wanted to get this thread started. It's been awhile since I posted one.

    Found this thang fer $19.99.
$15 Shipping. Figured what the hey.

It was just the Body, Neck, Pickguard, along with the bridge.

No electronics, plug in jack thrown into a baggie with some sealed tuners in a box.
It was strung up as a Lefty.
    Sort of...:confused:o_O

Every BOZO NONO you can imagine was inflicted on this poor boy...

I believe it belonged to a chain smoking short order cook who leaned it on his grill during working hours. Good Lord....the more I cleaned it the greasier it became.

Here is where it currently is...
    More to come.
Gotta head out to the store before it closes.

It arrived and was sticky to the touch.
Donned leather gloves and cut the rusty strings off.
Used pliers to remove the strings.

Broke down the bridge and put It in the sonic bath.

    409 Sprayed it outside.
The goo took two days to remove.

    Sat back and plotted.
The neck is really nice on this.
Frets are beefy, neck is clubby.
    Nice wood too...looks like wormwood.
    Hmmmm....

Did a fret level. Wasn't too bad.
    Frets were finshed really well.
    Surprising.

Some Bozo sanded off the logo with 60 grit sandpaper.
I had to work on the headstock face to get it ready for the Water Slide.
The nut was damaged by stringing it lefty.

I'll need to put a new nut on it. The rosewood behind the nut is damaged. I'll need to repair that. I painted the Truss Rod Hole to look like it's a plug.

A couple of more coats of clear required over the headstock face.

I found some Alpha pots that were already wired. They were in another First Act I rewired. Sprayed them and rewired in a new plug in jack.

The pickup is a Guitar Madness Alnico 5 :
    I got itbon sale for $15 !!!
    Free Shipping.
    I LOVE Guitar Madness.

The Strat Plug In Plate would not fit.
I see where it was hitting the routed hole.
Looked like someone tried to chisel out the cavity.

I had to refit it. Plugged the old screw holes.
Routed out some wood. Finally got it seated.

Reassembled the bridge, Found a Trem Arm.
Tested out the wiring and all was well.

So...the neck and electronics are all good to go.
Just need to stay on track with the Logo Clear Coat.

    Now about the back ...

The body is pretty nice overall.
    Pool Route. Not too heavy.

    Some Bozo...
Scratched lines into the back and wrote LOL and WHY THO?
    into the finish.

I had to use Rubbing Compound and a ScotchBrite Pad to lesson the damage.
Did as much as I could then left it Matte.
It definitely looks way better than it was.

The Trem Cavity ...I don't know...It was GOOCHED.
I had to chisel it smooth and then covered it with Conductive Shielding.
I added my initials and the date I restored it.
I'll cut a clear cover for it tomorrow.

I've been listening to the band BUSH from the 90's.
I dig that guitar players sound.
I think he played a Strat with the a humbucker in it.
    I'll have to check.

Anyhow....that's how this Tone Tool form to where its at.
A little cash, but a lot of elbow grease.
    :p

That’ll be another cool one FG. Can’t wait to see how it turns out. 409 huh? What do people do with their guitars?

    Oh...
The BOZO tried to block the bridge on this poor boy.
Instead of adding springs...or an actual wood block...
He drove the screws all the way in.:mad::rolleyes:

    Yeah...they were stripped.
I had to use Vise Grips to work out the screws.
    Took awhile.
