This little town I live in has been alive with everyone shooting off fireworks since this afternoon. It's almost 11:00 PM and they're still going at it. My next door neighbors must've spent hundreds of dollars on the crap!

I got sick of fireworks when I lived in NJ. A hotel nearby shot them off about every week all summer and fall.

They used to ruin the surf fishing.

Not even one gunshot within 10 miles of here. Must be all in town at the river firing off fireworks ... or no one is celebrating.

It’s okay it brings attention to the plight all those poor M-80’s are suffering at the hands of amateurs

On a serious note, I’m glad I quit drinking I might be tempted to be a firework idiot tonight

It’s okay if you’re safe about it but I doubt everyone is

I am amazed, no "my dog was scared all evening because of the fireworks" thread. Yet.

Oddly enough, hardly a peep here, which is unusual and our dog appreciated. Not sure why it was so quiet this year, but it was a nice change.

They're mostly illegal in NY, but our entire neighborhood was at it.

Haven’t in awhile. Neighborhood was lit up. Back in day it was fun. No Roman candle battles though. I was stupid. Use a slingshot with cherry bombs out into lake. I was idiot

One of my easily amused neighbors started his personal fusillade at about 6 PM last night. Over the course of the next 6 hours he easily averaged one firework per minute. At shortly after midnight my prayers were answered when a thunderstorm moved into the area and put a damp and merciful end to his unabated nonsense.

Private use of fireworks without a permit & necessary precautions is illegal here. Much farther west of our house the gunfire is another issue. I can guarantee you it is almost, if not totally, illegal firearms.

I had some nuisance neighbors a few years back who would set off fireworks any time of year. They were two doors down, and they inherited the house from their parents who, by the way, were really nice people.

They also would take a bag of trash to the middle of the yard and set it on fire. Many times remnants of their trash ended up in my yard, which I would collect and deposit it back in their yard. It was known that these nitwits were hard-core druggies.

I asked my wife one time what she thought about them setting off fireworks at will. She said, “They are celebrating the fact that they are not in jail.”

My son had quite an arsenal to fire off. Our cranky "get off my lawn" next door neighbor started complaining about debris going into his yard about 15 minutes after he started firing them. So, we had talked to our neighbors on the other side who were having a family party. We combined our arsenals, their small one and our large one, and had a literal blast in their backyard.
