Yes! And I'm gonna go ahead and play it on Sunday, too!

Thank you all for the warm wishes/prayers/positive vibes. And Tater, I'm sending some your way as well.

Too bad. Hopefully in a short time you can say, good thing that happened, I'm better off now.

    Call it an opportunity.

Happen to me, didn't see it as much of a gift at the time.

Best of luck, just don't jump into anything, you have the option now to be picky.

No leads, but hang in there. So far I've only had one involuntary departure from a job (during a mass layoff), but it was pretty tough for a while. But I made it through. The upside is that, after doing that, it's not so scary anymore. Anyway, if you regularly dealt with clients, vendors, partners, give them a call. If you're a member of a trade group that has meetings you may want to go to a couple, or just work the network.

And from the sounds of it I'll guess some stuff will start to go wrong since you're no longer there, and someone somewhere may realize why there are so many more problems. At least for me it was odd when people started calling and asking how to handle some things.

I'm retired now, being an old f4rt but during my career changed jobs a few times always for a brief pay cut but in the end finished way in front.

It is one thing and a good thing to have qualifications but what a lot of people overlook is the highly saleable other skills that enabled them to perform the role they had.

Good luck with the job hunt Mr L

Sorry to hear it. We're due for a new executive director the first of the year and have no idea what expect. It'll be someone from outside appointed by the board of directors. That said, how often is it good?

I'm on thin ice as it is due to a low volume of work.

That sucks, hang in there you will find something.
I worked in a supermarket meat dept for 7 years.
Everything was ok till we got a new meat manger and it went down hill.
I finally quit they could not fire me because it was union unless they caught me stealing which I never did. So I found out this meat manager died.

I got fired from two jobs in the past two years. Now I'm making double the money I was making. (New full-time job plus a big promotion and pay raise at my part-time job).

No, nothing yet fellas, but thank you for checking. I have gotten some leads from some guys here that I'm pursuing, plus the feelers I had already put out when I saw this coming; I had a good conversation with a recruiter yesterday that represents 7 firms that are hiring engineers. So we'll see. I'm not in a place where I need to panic just yet.
    Hang in there Tater.

January 14th of this year I was let go by a customer service firm by having three customer complaints in over 24,000 calls. Unfortunately the company has a three and you're out policy. They eventually laid off every one int that department that did my job and replaced us with temps. I hope I can find a job SOON since my unemployment closed in August.

Considering all the advances in med and surgical technology, seems you could go about anywhere that has a heart hospital, an orthopedic surg center, or a containment facility. Seems like every time we go to a specialist we end up getting a gratuitous MRI or scan of some kind.

I was the only witness to a manager's tantrum that included kicking a chair across the room so hard that it put a hole in the wall. The next day I had a 1:1 talk with him about it, no threats, no prejudice, just constructive encouragement to learn from it. He twice pointed out that I could get him fired if I spoke with anyone else about it.

2 months later when the 2008 recession hit hard, the lay offs list came up. Every other manager told me I was not on the list. Then there was a small meeting. An hour later I was handed my cardboard box and given my severance.

That's the bad part. The good thing is 2 months after that I got hired at a place where I've always wanted to work, and now I'm still there 6 years later and making more money and working in peace and fun every day.
