Fun build. Started out a bit on the fence with this scheme but I'm really liking it now.
That is fortunate because the abalone is NOT cheap.
Tru-Oiled the neck again. I think I'm a convert. Such a nice non-stick finish and sooo much fun to rub it in you know.

Each time I learn a stupid thing or two:
Here's one. If you need to cap off any wires or cover exposed wire somewhere those little "glue dots" work great. They stick like hell unlike tape which is bulky and always wants to come off of fine wire.

I like the truss-rod cover, that is slick!

As requested, this is the neck profile shot. You can see the Tru-Oil tends to more of a matte finish which I prefer now for play-ability.
It actually can be shined up almost like nitro but that defeats the purpose.

Below: I'm made these wood tuner knobs to replace the metal Gotoh ones. They are too fragile. The Gotoh shafts are fairly stiff to turn and the wood just breaks out.
So I made these ss inserts yesterday and molded them over a mandrill of sorts to fit the tuner shafts. The plan is to make wood knobs in 2 halves and epoxy these inserts in place.
I will have to enlarge the knobs just a bit I think to make it work but not enough to be appreciable I think. This is of course insane but my place of work just got flooded when the housecleaner snapped off a fire sprinkler head while cleaning so no work for a month! So lots of time on my hands.
