This was fun, first guitar - not first wood or electronic project though. I stressed hard a few times, for instance - when I began torching the body thinking I might try shou sugi ban. Really just want to keep building guitars now and try the next 100% from scratch next time. It's a shame there's a swamp ash shortage.

Specs for those that are interested:
    • Hipshot locking open tuners
    • Flamed maple neck, rosewood fingerboard 9.5" radius, abalone dots, luminlay side dots, stainless jescar 7105 medium jumbo frets, heavy rolled edges (Parklane guitars)
    • Neck & body stained with a mix of ebony/natural minwax stain with white and blue artist oil paints added to get that cool gray
    • Neck sanded to 600 or so & finished in 50/50 mix of linseed oil and mineral spirits (japan drier used to insure smooth drying)
    • Body finished in 3 layers of Odie's oil
    • Pickups - Cavalier She Wolf in neck, fat lion in bridge
    • Electronics - 4 way switch .022Uf cap, no load tone pot
    • Bridge - Gotoh modern brass with brass saddles
    • Straplocks - Dunlop
    • Body - one piece extra light swamp ash from Warmoth
    • Pickguard - matte from Warmoth
    • Control knobs and cover plate - Lucky Dog Guitars
    • Weight: 7.16lbs with strap

Just one thing to say, AWESOME! Love all the black components plus the beveled body (my Teles dig into my ribs). Here's to many fun jams and years of enjoyment!

    Paraphrasing Sir Mix-a-Lot -
I like that back side... (both neck & body)
    And I cannot lie.

Front is nothing to sniff at either, but Baby, that Back...
    ;)
    Peace - Deeve

That’s beautiful! I’ve never seen a burned finish turn it so well. The grain, especially on the back looks amazing.

Fantastic. You've managed to make something that's different but looks like it was meant to be. Love the colours of neck and body. Everything just works. Well done you.

That’s a great looking guitar. And I dig the modern features. Bridge, radius, frets, tuners, etc. I’d play that. Nice work.
