After trying lots of acoustic travel guitars(Taylor Baby & GS Mini, Traveler AG-105, Martin Little Martin, etc...). They all left me a little flat and had abbreviated scale lengths or lacking on the low end. I then turned to travel electrics(Traveller EG, Speedster, Ultra light, etc...). After comparing them all I chose a Hofner Shorty because: 1. it is comfortable to play if you rest it on your left leg like a classical guitar 2. It has a full 24-3/4" scale length 3. Has tuners in a conventional location 4. Is sturdy enough to fly with 5. Is inexpensive enough to mod to taste(I put in a Seymour Duncan SH-16 59/Custom hybrid humbucker with a push/pull to split to the Custom coil only) The only issue is the case is pretty insubstantial. Nothing to leave unattended in an overhead bin I found a Plano 36" Tactical Gun Case that fits it perfectly. I just hope it doesn't make my airport trips more exciting than I would like. Here's some pics.
