I moved from Alaska to Arizona so that I wouldn’t have to worry about cargo shorts season. It is ALWAYS cargo shorts season. Except when I’m working among the brush and cactis, then it’s temporarily full-length cargo pants season.

Yup, cargo shorts weather is here.:) Just about to plant the garden. Last frost has been moving earlier every year and we might have already had it.o_O

What’s a frost?:lol::lol:

Here in the opposite corner of the country gardening season is about over. The only things that grow well in the summer are okra and chiles. I’m enjoying the last of the tomatoes now, won’t be able to get them to set fruit again until November at the earliest. Things like lettuce I can only grow in January/February.

I’ve only got one pair of cargos left, and they are trashed yard work shorts now. But I’m keepin’ em so you guys will let me stay a member here:eek:

Frost looks kind of like your love bug season (see pic), except frost melts always by itself as it warms up.:p

I’m ready but am uptight about catching the IK @ the market...don’t wanna expose beneath the knee to germs just yet. For us, The Heat will dictate when Cargo Shorts are apropos.

This means that I put away my jeans and boots for a few months and switch to cargo shorts and black Converse All Stars. Now I can carry my capo, clip-on tuner, slide, strap, and extra capo with me everywhere I go. In the other pocket I carry a can of BBQ beans and a can opener, in the other pocket I carry a compass and pig sticker, and in the other pocket I carry a tire gauge and a spare can of Fix-a-Flat.

FYI: did you know they make cargo pants? You can carry all that stuff you mentioned year round. :p

Shorts ? Can’t do without them.

That much storage in a garment ? Don’t need it.

It is challenging to find non-cargo shorts but it is so worth it.

I also don’t scowl a lot, have a goatee, wear Merrill pastor/river guide sandals, or wear logo (any logo) tees one size too big.

People still realize I’m an OWM but I make em look twice !

My son moved into his own apartment in NYC 10 years ago. In that time, he went up two sizes and down three. My wife has been on a Covid inspired cleaning frenzy. We can finally empty his closet and drawers. He doesn’t want his “fat” clothes any more. So into a 55 gallon trash bag went pants I can’t believe anyone would have worn. On top of them went shirts in colors that were hideous 10 years ago. On top of them went worn college sweatshirts and CARGO SHORTS. The better stuff has been set aside for donation but the bag with the CARGO SHORTS will be at the curb for pickup on Tuesday night.

Going to hit 105F this week where I am. Not a fan of cargo shorts, but even if I were, there's no chance I'd wear them in that kind of weather.

That kilt tho...

In our hemisphere, today is the official opening day of Cargo Short Season. It's always the first Sunday after the last eternal equinox in the days of aquarius before Memorial Day. That just happens to land on today!

Also, I get to start mowing my yard now without wearing a shirt. I'm thinking about installing an elevator in our garage, and dare people to enter/exit before I do.

Man, I love this time of year.

Be careful now! I gave myself the danged ol’ plantar fasciitis wearing them crappy old converse shoes. I sure wish I’d have listened when they kept telling me how bad they are.
Thankfully, I’m able to carry plenty of orthotics now that it’s cargo shorts season.

They do make them in just about every fabric known to cargo wearing man.

Kuhl, Prana, North Face, 511, and Oakley all make very light weight cargos. In my defense I wear cargo pants to work (a necessity) so I think I'm desensitized to the uglytude of them. I like the utility and storage space they provide for all my junk and weapons of mass destruction. I'm also at the age where I kinda don't care what anyone thinks.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ve been wearing All Stars for close to 40 years with nary a problem. But I don’t exercise in them. I used to wear them for BMX riding up until Air Jordans came out.

Already been wearing them for a couple of weeks now, as well as my Keen sandals.

Shoes and pants are off the menu until October.

I pretty much concur. But when I do yard work, the Bermuda grass here can be irritating, so I wear long pants for that. Keen sandals are the bomb.
