Finally, a PRS I actually fancy. Really.

Well if they put a tele bridge on it of COURSE you're gonna want it.

That's a cool guitar. Incidentally, a PRS SE is basically the best value in import guitars, hands down.

This is an S2, not an SE. The S2 is priced higher.

    .

The S2 Vela in tobacco burst or the limited run in charcoal with Tort pickguard is on my short list.

I have been wondering, now that the most Strat-like model came out last year, apparently keeping the factory busy all year that Tele version of that guitar may soon show up. Use the same neck, the Vela bridge, and they are practically there.

I’ve never got on with one. I tried a Vela and the another retro styled one. I prefer those to the standard 22 and 24 models. Something about the neck join area feels off to me.

Will just have to try some more.

I admit, I like this one a little bit, but that neck pickup is trying to be a Dynasonic but it ends up looking like those China-sonics on ebay. Are those elevator screws real/functional?

I believe that’s the same neck pup as on the Studio SE...?? That’s the PRS I’d like to add to the collective

Further review shows its NOT the same...

My SE One with added neck pickup and tone control.....I call it my #1.5.(after my Telecaster) It sounds very similar to my 1960 Les Paul Jr, and I don't like to play out with the Jr.

Meh...I've tried, but just never can bond with any PRS.

I do think that one looks nice though.

Yeah actually I meant to say, "incidentally, an SE ..." Bad sentence, me. I'm on my second PRS SE, first a Santana, and now a Custom 24. They are not Fenders, but they are really great guitars, and incidentally ... an incredible value.

I should first start by saying I always thought PRS guitars were ugly, but this one turned my head. I've had one for two years and it's pretty much my main guitar now. The neck pickup is a weird combination of Dyna and Strat. It'll go Duane Eddy on you on the bass strings, but playing up the neck is a different Strattier thing altogether (and yes the elevator screws work). The bridge pickup is brighter than a PAF, with a Filtertron-like high end but with a tight clean, growl-less low end. It really doesn't change radically in tone or volume with the coil tap pulled. There are no intonation issues with the bridge, but a mere two saddles does make it lively. If you try one out just let it show you what it does. If you "think" you know the kind of sound you're going to get out of it with a certain pickup selection, etc. it will probably confound you. But it does what it does very nicely. Highly recommended.

That neck pickup is pretty sweet in the velas. The only thing I’m not fond of is the length of the upper cutaway. But that’s a minor detail.
