Trevor Horn is a good enough bass player that he even elbowed Chris Squire aside to play bass on the track Run Through The Light (from the sadly underrated Drama album).

So it is! I’ve got one just like it, except it was two tone burst and is currently undergoing a refinished something much nicer. And mine is cleaner. :)

Gratitude is a good choice, but how about Sabotage for some dirty bass?

And if someone asks you what a Precision Bass sounds like, listen to what Scott Thunes does on Frank Zappa’s classic Valley Girl:

(This video has the bass break at the end edited out but you get the sense from the main part of the song.)

But here is my real nomination for Filthiest Bass Line Of All Time:

    Nice try, Big Brother.
Honestly the very first bass riff that comes to mind for me when I hear "dirty bass." It's one of the most fantastic sounds ever recorded by a human being in my opinion.

This thread goes no further without some Buford and Jeff Berlin. Cool bass sound. He turns his solo into a counter melody by first playing his solo, and later playing the solo as a counter melody to the theme of the song. Brilliant!

Taylor was a beast and this was one of his more over indulgent lines.
