Film: If There's A Hell Below

This is sort of a conspiracy, who can be trusted, whose telling the truth kind of movie, filmed in my part of the woods (desert) in Washington State.

SPOILER ALERT (but may be OK)

I am thoroughly perplexed by one small moment near the beginning of the film. The woman holds up an electronic device, says "cover your ears" to the guy before activating it (high-pitch airhorn sound). She then digs up a small hole on the land, lays the device down, and buries it. Then covers up the signs of burial by kicking dirt around.

This device came out of nowhere and had no explanation, never referred to again. I'm happy to not know if I was supposed to not know, but I wonder am missing a reference or something.

The scene has a woman who is a whistleblower of some government info, meeting a journalist out in the desert, and acting like a CIA person in the way she searched him and bossed him around.

The trailer does say that it will "leave the audience guessing"....I guess it did.

If you have Amazon Prime, I'd recommend you watch it even for the land and sky. You're in a different zone when it is just you, treeless land, and the sky. The color and shape combinations produced by the background in this movie are beautiful in their own right.
