Bought a sheet of fiber headstock veneer and was surprised how paper-like it is. What's the best method for applying this to the headstock? How should I trim the edges to make it flush with the headstock edges?

Just apply with Titebond and an appropriate caul.. Size the fiber just a smidge over size (1/16" or less) Flush trim with a router and flush trim bit/ pattern bit.

And it is indeed vulcanized cardboard... (Gasket material)

It scrapes well with a razor blade too.
