I bought this new Fender Telecaster Ultra this past Saturday in
Plasma Red Burst with an Ash Body. I'm going to return the guitar
today. I'm going to have the music store order me an Ultra in Cobra
Blue with an Alder body. I prefer Alder over Ash same guitar different
body wood. Here the pictures of the two guitars. 127029963_3793071497392459_6235086890780127755_n.jpg wpsplockz7rhgagk9mky.jpg

I agree with your decision. I like the Ultra in Texas Tea with a rosewood board.

I played one when they first came out and nearly bought it. I didn’t need it but really liked it.

Assuming this is a fair depiction of this ash Ultra, I think the swap is a good idea for you.

I hate to say this, but these are normally spectacular to look at - but this example doesn't please my eye much at all. Ash supplies could be waning - I wonder if this one snuck through when it should not have.

This red burst is a concept IMO that has always worked better with the salmony hue of alder. And it is customary that whatever body wood is used, that graining be very subdued. I think it is a bad thing when the heavy, darkened grain of some ash collides with a burst concept that if not executed just so, gets too close to Clownburst for my eye. When someone at Fender Corona picked up this ash body, he or she should've designated it for a 2 tone Sunburst or a solid color. Not this Plasma burst color.

Yea, both nice axes but the blue one is a little prettier IMO. At this price you need to get what you really want

I went back to the music store yesterday and one of the owners checked
when the Blue Ultra would be available not until next March or April. So I
will keep the one I have. He lowered the Action and now it play's how I
like it. I have found other music stores on line that have the Blue Ultra
in stock. To get that guitar I would have to sell one of my other guitars.

I really like the Blue one with the Alder Body and I would have to sell
my PRS Custom 24 to get the Blue Ultra. I like my setup simple and to
me the Telecaster with it's basic controls is just right. The Blue is my favorite
color. I'm playing thru two different Amps a Vox AC30HW2X and a Louis Electric
Gattone and the Telecaster sounds so clear thru those Amps. So would it be
worth selling the PRS and getting the Ultra in Corba Blue. Then I would have
two Telecasters a Rickenbacker 350v63 in Blue and I have a Standard Stratocaster
    coming in Blue also.
