Just out of interest, where is the supply of fat wives everyone seems confident of?

That's easy, marry your skinny girlfriend.
In no time at all you'll have a fat wife.
    That's been my experience. . . .

I feel your pain (literally) as my Twin Reverb has JBL speakers and weighs over 120 lbs. A pine cabinet would likely save you about 10 lbs., and changing speakers could save you another 5 lbs, but it will still be heavy. A folding cart is the best way to deal with it or else convert it to a head and cab arrangement as it was suggested. I sold off most of combos for head unts these days for just such a reason. Carrying a lightweight pine speaker cabinet and a head unit is a breeze and probably better for the life of the amp anyway. Certainly better for the life of your back and knees.

If you want the sounds, you gotta carry the pounds.

I have never had a TR weigh over 100 pounds even with big EV’s in it or Altec’s. I once weighed a BFTR with stock stamped frame speakers in it....74 pounds. After we installed some Emi Neo speakers, it weighed 54 pounds.

the extra weight comes from the lead shot you add to the bottom to give it more sustain ,:lol::lol::lol:

Put a handle at each end like a Marshall cab and get a mate to help carry it

Or....have another guitarist who uses an AC30 in the band. Since those Vox players don’t complain about the weight of their amps, find a way that he will tote the load???? Lol...

Not much, maybe 5 #. It's transformers and speakers that are the weight issue. Although, is the ST particle board cab? You might save 10# !
