The last time I saw Lee Ranaldo play live he was playing through one of these. Sounded fine to me. I’ve also shared a bill with an Austin band whose singer guitarist plays one and her tone was good too. If it’s priced right go for it.

I have heard that Jimmy Page personally licked each speaker cone, to give it better tone.

I don't know about you, but I see no reason to question that.

Well, my oldest amp is 63 years old, so..... I am not an age discriminator! LOL

This one will be PCB, of course. I've had a few nice Fender amps from the 90's. Fender was building some decent stuff. Although, I don't know exactly how these were built, I would wager they were built road tough. But, it is at least 20 years old, and a recap might be in order?

I like the four Eminence 1028's. I bet it does a decent typical clean Fender Blackface type tone.

I bet it's heavy... and, at 60 watts, probably quite loud when cooking.

All of which would add up to something I might be interested in, although I'd probably look for a '65 Super Reverb Reissue first... Although, full disclosure, I do tend to impulse buy at times, so there's really no telling! LOL

    Stormsedge,

You may have already seen this, but in case you haven't, here's some info on the amp including some comments regarding design/build quality/maintenance.

    http://ampwares.com/amplifiers/fender-super-pro-tube/

Also, search YouTube for 'fender pro tube concert' for a video detailing the repair of a similar vintage Pro Tube Concert, which is the same amp circuit with a different speaker configuration.

I bought one of these about 18 months ago and the only problem I've had with it was a noisy reverb, which some electronics cleaner and a new cable fixed right up. Wally, one of the resident amp experts around here, was kind enough to PM me regarding this amp when I bought it, so maybe he'll chime in here with a more informed opinion.

I only play at home so it doesn't get moved around or played much because it is so dang loud so I can't speak to how it might stand up on the road.

FWIW I didn't pay anywhere close to the asking price listed in the above ad, though mine appears to have had the blue frame speakers replaced with their Eminence OEM equivalent.

I think for that $ I would get a SF Super Reverb non master volume.

Mr Page's lawyers have asked me to clarify that Jimmy has never licked a back side.

I think we have crossed into the realm of the great best not known.

There might not be any real lore about 4x10 Super Amps, that doesn't mean we can't make some up for the next guy who asks to find...

That amp is the next in line after the Super 60 series, my brother had the 1-12 version, which was similar to the Super 60 amps but had a bigger cab. They changed from the smaller red, then black knobs to the full size Fender knobs and the vintage cosmetics, but I'm pretty sure it's a dressed-up Super 60 amp. That one has what appear to be 4 of the cool Fender/Eminence Alnico 10's in it, which is a plus.

Make sure you want to deal with the weight of a 4 x 10 when moving it.
