    Hi all,
I’m looking for a Lake Placid Blue body for my Vintera 50s modified as I really don’t like the daphne blue. I’ve struggled to find a body on its own, so I wondered about buying a guitar the right colour and using it as a donor. The cheapest I can find for a genuine fender is about 600UKP, but I’ve found a few squires for around 200. If I’m swapping my neck, pickups, bridge etc, would I notice much difference between the fender and the squier body?

I love all things Squier. especially “Standard” and “Vintage Modified” - if it’s Indonesian - I want it.:D:D

I think bullets and affinitys have slightly thinner bodies. So it might be worth researching when you think you've found the one.

Gaz, If I remember right the really early Esquires had a slightly thinner body too. Like 1949/1950.

Some of the brand new Affinity models are coming with full thickness bodies and string through, although not vintage spacing or mounting. These have been in the basic colors like white, natural and black from what I've seen, and I'm not sure about the "custom colors" yet.

And, according to the Fender web catalog, the Squier "Standards" are no longer listed, so the Affinities may be filling that roll now.
