Just watched this video and there's no way that amp sounds like that without some major processing going on during editing. I know most of us understand that, but how about someone just starting out and trying too decide on an amp? I just think it's false advertising. Rant over.

No one should buy an amp based on a YouTube video or gear review.
Video reviews/demos are worthless. I’ve rarely seen a Dr Z review that does them justice.
BTW, I liked the demo’s of both the Vibro Champ and Pro but I attributed it the player. I could never crank the Pro volume the way he did.

Honestly, I was at the shoot the day that this was recorded and what you’re hearing is how the amp sounds. Yes, we used good mics and a good DAW but there is no trickery going on. It helps to have an amazing player like Mason Stoops as well.

I’m fine with people ranting about Fender amps but I have to speak out when I know there wasn’t tomfoolery. I guess you’ll have to go try it in person and see for yourself. ;)

It does sound quite compressed. It’s also double mic’d and you can see that. No beginner is going to pick up on that to begin with. When all is said and done I’d rather have been “tricked” into buying a Vibro Champ than a Peavey Bandit as my first amp...

I hear a lot of reverb and I also hear how Mason usually sounds on his videos. I don't think it's deceptive at all.

The reverb is dimed and no hum. That's a plus.
So... why do ya'll think the amp doesn't sound like it appears to sound?

No beginner is going to sound like that at any rate. Much of it is fingers (Fender: "fingers purchased separately"):lol:

I don’t know, I just listened to a couple diy vids that sounded pretty much the same.

    A good DAW?

As a working engineer and studio owner who has Pro Tools Ultimate HDX, Reaper, and Logic (and has used most every other DAW, GarageBand, Audacity, Record, Studio One, FL Studio, and Cubase) I can confidently say that all DAWs sound the same. The only real differences are in workflow, and latency for live tracking of multiple musicians/artists (and DSP processing, but I'm assuming that for something like this no plugins were used in order to maintain a true representation). Converters, are a different story, but if you were to simply take a well recorded project and dump it into any DAW and perform the same level balances the bounces would sound the same. Of course if you start adding in plugins that utilize nonlinear processing or hardware inserts there will be negligible differences. The differences would be (relatively speaking) the same as multiple bounces from the same DAW at the same settings.

That amp sounds dope though, and I believe that there wasn't any trickery, good mic placement is where it's at. Thanks for your insight into the actual session and sorry for the mini rant

I think the fact that an amp review is closed captioned is hilarious.

    Calm guitar sounds”

Deaf person: JUST the sound I was looking for!

I think it sounds like it does because the reverb is absolutely dimed and, like is pointed out in the video, that reverb is a hall reverb not a spring reverb. It sounds a lot more dynamic when he turns the reverb down.

The guitarist doing the demo is really Weird Al with makeup on pretending to be a younger guy.

If you don't believe me, he gives a "hint". Watch from 3:15.

The PB is a fine amp. A lot of power & good tone in a small package for not a lot of $.

It has $1400.00 worth of microphone in front of it - 'nuff said.

I rarely buy anything I haven't held and heard in person.

At the risk of offending Marshall fans I'm always amazed that they sound so good on recordings and when used with big name acts, but whenever I hear one being tested at any music store or see a small band use one live I cringe. I assume they require a sound engineer to get decent tone out of them.

Fender amps I generally just like anywhere anytime.

I don't get why they added a digital reverb in the amp. People who want that can get that out of a reverb pedal. If they're not going to jam a real spring reverb in there, and I get why they don't, just make a vibro champ.

It’s really more like a half-powered PR than a VC. I don’t get the point of this amp.

I dunno man...those silverface reissues just sound pretty dang good. I bought a Princeton when they hit a few stores as demo models, and I haven't thought about another amp since.
