Well, my 20-year-old 50s Classic needed a new neck. I thought about a refret, but that's a big cost in comparison. So, I ordered a 50s Reissue neck from Fender. And, I was really impressed with the product. So, I thought I'd share my results with the team.

    1) Nice grain, no knots or warts.
    2) No orange finish.
    3) Impeccable finish.
    4) Nice profile - a tad more girth than a CV or US-Special.
    5) No poly build-up at the base of the frets as is sometimes the factory norm.
    6) Very nice & level fretwork.
    7) Fender Brand "single-line" tuners and bushings fit without reaching for a file.
    8) Tuner screw holes and neck mounting holes are pre-drilled.
    9) Nice nut, shaped nicely. Not sure what the material is. Required slot-depth adjustment.
    10) Factory fit - no sanding or tweaking required.

So, if anyone is thinking about replacing a neck, I was very pleased with this neck. My old 50s Classic (MN8XXXXX) is good as new. And, a treat to play.

Are you/is he interested in selling the worn out neck? I just happen to be looking for a neck to re-fret with stainless steel frets! Oh, and kudos on the nice, new neck! PM me if interested.
    Thank You,
    Gene

I've bought 1 Tele and 1 Strat neck and my findings were about the same as yours.
Kinda hard to make myself build from scratch when $199 buys such a nice neck.

I've had a couple aftermarket necks, but you're right - for $200, these are tough to beat. I think Fender even included the shipping.

I think Fender should hire a VP of Headstock Logos.

I can't stand the modern style on my Thinline, and yours looks a tad downhill to me.

Don't get me wrong. Yours is just fine, but these inconsistencies drive me nuts.

When I look at the old ones, it looks like all the decals were downhill. I never really noticed it. But, if you want see a lot of variability in decal placement, look at the '70s Teles! But, looking at it, mine is a little close to the edge, in comparison. Probably tough to control in production.

my 1983 '52 ri tele needed a new neck last year. i put that same neck on mine. i like it, but it's the last tele neck i have that is a 7.25" radius. i have subsequently fallen in love the '50s baja tele neck. it's chunky v and 9.5" radius is quite nice in my mitt.

i know it's impossible, but i wish fender offered both of those necks in a lacquer finish. i know, pipe dream. :)

Yes....the chunky Baja neck would be nice to add to the line!
