I've been building my own amps since 2003. But the 68 Pro Reverb is on my "want it" list. So many things about it are just right for live use.

And you do build some awesome amps. I still regret trading away my tweed Vibrolux clone you built. That was one incredible amp. I agree the new 68 Pro Reverb is a very tempting bit of gear.

Fender made the blackface Vibrolux-Amp in '63-'64, which had a single 12" speaker and 6L6GC outputs. It was basically the same as a Tremolux-Amp but in a combo cabinet.

It looks like (by total serial numbers listed at http://www.superiormusic.com/page195.htmhttp://www.superiormusic.com/page195.htm) they could have sold around 4700 of them between 61-63. That's actually a higher number than I expected. They seem rare to me... Rarer than that number would illustrate.

I wonder how many saw regular gigging and have their original speakers?

'61-'63 would be the Brownface Vibrolux. It was replaced in Aug/Sep '63 by the Blackface Vibrolux.

Yes, You're right, I brain farted! (I probably needed more coffee).

For blackface Vibroluxes (AA763), by the same page, I see a total of 1200 allotted serial numbers.

Which means even fewer to start with. I know I've never seen one in person, I dunno that I've ever even seen a picture of one! But, I would ask the same question? How many ay think still have the original speaker? Do we know, even anecdotally, if they had a problem with blowing that single 12?

I'm not being argumentative in any way. I am just curious now. LOL.

I honestly have so little experience even talking about the single 12 Vibrolux, I know almost nothing about them. Now I want to know a bit more!

The speaker was typically an Oxford 12M6, what's the power rating for one of those? I don't think Leo considered that people would be turning his amps all the way up.

12" Vibrolux-Amp and 15" Pro-Amp are on my wish list. I've never seen either in the flesh.

No, I don't think Leo did! Of course, he didn't seem to cotton to the Rock and Roll much either... LOL

He probably figured if you were gonna turn it up, you needed a Twin, or maybe you could slide by with a Pro, Super or Bandmaster?
