I found myself at an estate sale last week, rummaging through old packed boxes, since long forgotten. In the middle of these stacked boxes I found an old fender amp. Very clean considering the age, however, some tale tale signs that this is infact and older amp. It even smells old.
What i discovered (from what I have learned so far) is a 1966 Fender princeton amp. I know that they are worth some money and after posting it online to sell, a gentleman suggested that its too clean to be a 66 princeton and quite possible its a reissue.
Doing more research, i have learned not to go by the tube chart on the inside, even though the paper has browned over the years as paper does. Still, the tube chart has been proven not to be a reliable source of information.
The power supply is stamped :125P1B-606-5-42.
I will admit it, i don't know jack about this and/or how to confirm its authenticity, which is why I am reaching out to the experts of this forum.
If anyone has any information on this amp,i would like to hear from you..
Thank you in advance.

125P1B is the correct code for a Princeton power transformer

606 is Schumacher, the manufacturer’s code

5 is 1965

42 is 42nd week of year

You most likely have a 1966 Princeton. Congratulations, thats one heck of a find!

Any pictures?

The transformers and other parts have date stamps. The as CWP1026 sited it is probably a '66 but the transformer could be from '75. If you pull the chassis it will be obvious to the trained eye which year.

The OL on the tube chart indicates Dec 1965

Does the #4 stamped on the tube chart have any significance such as a production #?

The #4 indicates an early production run, but the OL is your date code. That translates to December of 1965.

That is a beautiful amp, and it is not a reissue. Again, congratulations, and welcome to the forum!

Thank you.for all the information and the education. I paid $40 for it.. im not trying to brag but your information has me a little excited. Now i need to figure out how to sell this amp and to whom. I know that this has historic value as well as a sound thats all its own but needs to be preserved, nonetheless

Welcome to TDPRI.

From your post it appears you will be selling the amp.

There can be dangerous voltages inside the amp even after it has been shut off for a long period of time.

A buyer will want to know/see what he/she will be buying. For you to get top dollar you should have pictures of the inside and pictures of the date codes on the parts.

If you don't know how to safely pull the chassis, I would suggest you find a tech to do that safely.

Yes $40.00 is a great find. It looks to be in exceptional shape. If the inside matches you should have a nice payday.

Best of luck.

Honestly I am not comfortable pulling the chassis because i don't know what I'm doing. I took pictures of the back of the amp, however, I'm not too sure that would be what you are looking for?
