given the public reaction to the recent price increases by Fender, one would expect a drop in sales ... as the first quarterly figures for 2009 are tallied and found to be lacking, I believe we may see some incentives soon in the form of rebates or sales ... any thoughts ???

They've only just put the prices up...I can see them letting it ride for more than a month or so before assessing the impact.

I wouldn't be suprised it they dropped back down to 10% higher than their previous prices so everybody thanks they're getting a deal when they're still paying 10% more.

I'm still working on that time machine.
I refuse to be stopped by my complete and total lack of scientific and electronic knowledge.
So far it's just an old cardboard box with some switches & knobs drawn on it in marker.
But when I get this thing workin', I'm goin' back to get me some cheap vintage gear.

I gasped when I looked at a new fender twin today and saw that it was over $2,000 (Thats Canadian).

MickM, ya beat me to it! :(

So, PapaBeef, how much seating and cargo space is there in this time machine of yours, and what would it take to reserve a seat? ;)

It doesn't matter if it's a box or a space shuttle, if it doesn't have one of these in it:

    A flux capacitor!

I have at least one of those in my esquire. Not sure how to use it properly. I keep twisting the tone knob, but all it does is wreck havoc with the space-time continuum...

If you dime a twin at the same time you could probably rip a time portal in the space-time continuum.

 what you really want is a teleporter, then you can adjust your location & time all in one foul swoop :p (and when you invent one, send a couple to me!)

The more pressing question is how many of those that go back with you will be left behind in order to make more room for guitars?

And even then, it doesn't matter what you put this thing in, unless you can get it up to 88 miles per hour.

Take heart, PapaBeef! I happen to know that you will/have/did succeed(ed/ing) in your quest to build/building/have built your time machine. Unfortunately, you left/are leaving/will leave the keys in it and I stole/will steal/have stolen it. Sorry, but those are/were/will be the breaks!

They won't lower MSRP. They will just offer dealer incentives, which will result in 50% off MSRP, possibly more...

    Old price MSRP = $499
    Old sale price = $350-$399

    New MSRP = $699
    + dealer incentives
    New sale price = $350-$399

There are several large retailers teetering on "the B-word" right now... It is not in Fender's interest to see nearly half of their distribution network disappear overnight, to have to litigate to get paid pennies on the dollar for items already sold on credit, nor to see a flood of new Fender instruments hit the market at fire-sale prices.

Expect to see some good sales, don't expect to see MSRP do anything...

Saw that in a catalog this morning; I laughed out loud. Because you flip the pages, and there are other really good, MUCH CHEAPER amps.

So glad I got my Twin RI last year...
