...and start making Squier Baritone Jazzmasters again! The prices being asked for used ones are ridiculous. You could change all this by relaunching this Squier at a $500 to $600 price point. Offer some cooler colors than black and burst, while you're at it. Like Coral, Taupe, Turquoise, and maybe a sparkle black.

I know what you're saying, so I'll spare you the details about why an economy can push things to be discontinued.

(eat grain of salt) What you're also seeing here are the huge markups on Reverb cause they probably charge fees to buyers and sellers like ticketmaster. So everything on Reverb is at maybe 25% more expensive than it should be...

Find a used one locally, or on CL and see if you can have it shipped for less than that listing.

Or make an offer on that one since they're bringing the price down, then strip it and refinish it yourself!

It never made sense to me to beg a company to do something in order to get my business.

Their lack of [whatever the product or service] is a clear message that they don't want my money. But I have feet and I can take my wallet elsewhere.

I bought my antiqua Squire baritone for $249 on a stupid deal of the day in 2015. I sold it last year for $900.00 in one day. Could have got more but I figured I’d give someone a “deal“. Never liked the 30” scale bari anyways. Baritone’s

should be 27”.

The cycle is viscous! You're telling me average joes don't look at the final selling price and dig up (if even possible) the buy/sell terms at the time of each sale and account for all the fees hidden in the actual list price!? How lazy can people get!?

I guess the OP could get whatever Squier Jazzmaster he wants at a cheaper price point and slap on a baritone neck, but that would be pragmatic. Personally, I prefer hyperbole and doing way too much work haha!

Why not buy literally any Fender or Squier JM you like and buy a Fender baritone neck? Fender keeps them in stock.

Oh yeah. If a minty blackface Vibrolux Reverb is listed on Reverb for $3900, then you can bet that the next time a Vibrolux pops up on your local Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace it will be $3900 too, even if it has a torn grill and needs a full service and cleaning.

That works. Warmoth also stocks baritone conversion necks that drop right into any Strat or Tele. Here's a conversion I did a few months back for a pal of mine, using a Squier Tele body. If you're faint of heart, avert your gaze; this one is fretless.

An even easier option is to just convert any guitar to a baritone for the cost of a set of fat strings and some setup work. Here's another one I created:

You posted that fretless before. It’s so pretty. I can play fretless bass all day but that scares me. My chords would be caterwaul.

That's awesome. Did you have to change any of the hardware on the body when you put the baritone neck on?

No, it was a drop-in mod.

The one thing to be careful of is if the neck you use has a fretboard overhang: make sure your pickguard is thin enough to allow the overhang enough room when the neck is screwed to the body.

Fretboard-Overhang.jpg

You need a little gap there. If the pickguard is too thick, it will pop the end of the fretboard loose from the neck.

They don't charge buyers, and they charge less of a selling fee than eBay. Everyone has this weird hate-boner for Reverb for some reason.

Or you could learn how Reverb works rather than speculating wildly.

No fees for buyers. About 8% total fees including card processing and listing/sales fees. So not 25%, 8%, and it gives you access to a national audience rather than just your local Craigslist.
