Fender Player HH Tele - humbuckers muddy / lack treble

Yeah, not your fault. I've just developed a dislike of his channel because of his mostly "Drastic mods first, ask questions later" approach.

I have a 2020 Player Tele HH and my experience is pretty much the opposite of the OP. Mine is not muddy at all, and is even a little more bright than I wanted. It sits in the case unplayed a lot because of this.

But, I have to turn the treble right up on my amp when using humbuckers and there still isn't much clarity.

What I would say about that video. Right off the bat, he plays one lick, which sounded good to my ears, then, when he turns the treble boost on, he plays a totally different riff. Apples, oranges.

It's fairly common to raise treble on the amp when switching from s single-coil to a humbucker guitar. How does it compare to other humbucker equipped guitars?
