I recently picked up a fender fsr ash tele in trade and im currently quite taken with it. It has the old mexican standard pups which i like but am thinking of moving to my other tele and giving this a more classic 50s set. For anyone who has used both sets Im curious how you feel about them. Im also open to other suggestions in this veign. I play a wide variety of music from jazz and blues to country to rock (and metal lol). I just want it to be a traditional tele sound without ice pick highs

I have a Bootstrap bridge at 7.2k that I like a lot, but I didn't buy a pair. I'm wondering whether their pairs are RWRP.

When I last looked, Fender OV's are not RWRP, so no hum-canceling in the middle position.

You can reverse the polarity, of course.

Last question first.....YES, you can get Bootstraps RWRP......I believe that's a "prompt" when you order online, so it's easy to request.
I've played a Telecaster as my primary guitar for about twenty years, and I was never happy with the shrillness of a Tele bridge p/up by itself, only in combination with the neck....UNTIL I tried the Bootstrap Pretzel set. It still has a "Tele"-brightness, but without being irritating. I've never heard Ryan (at Bootstrap) refer to the Pretzel bridge this way, but to me it's similar to a P-90, which is "Aces" in my book. I've now got Pretzels on both my Telecasters, including one that is "Nashville" style, with a Bootstrap Strat-style in the middle position. Like many have said before, Bootstrap are made in USA Boutique quality pickups.....only at Asian import prices.

I've yet to see anybody admit that their pickup has those icepick highs, and I've yet to see a tele pickup plugged into my DR that doesn't have them, if I lean on the treble too much.

No icepick highs please...

It's a tele, thats just twang.

I have both...and a few others..
I find the bootstraps to sound more like the cs51 nocasters than the OV 52s...
Just my take.
My bootstrap set did however not use plain enamel wire. It’s clearly poly.
Still not bad, very much like the cs51 set at a much lower price.

The artec in my other tele is ice pick city....although that is because of the crap harness in the guitar...

I really like the OV neck, but the OV bridge is a twang party, which I also like but often miss more of a mid-rangy broadcaster tone. Anyway I need both types.

I have a Bootstrap Original bridge pickup in this Tele, with a Cavalier Firebird neck pickup, and it sounds fantastic.

A3 mags slightly soften the sharp highs of the bridge position. Very clean, clear, detailed, articulate. Bootstrap makes great pickups and VERY good prices. I don't buy his "sets", as I prefer to pick and choose from a variety of different neck and bridge pickup combinations.

I have no experience with the Fender OV pickups.

Looks fantastic as well. I need to do a body ectomy to my other tele and it may wind up with a funky neck pickup.

Twang party is right up my alley, i just cant deal with strident highs...i really am a humbucker guy at heart i just like to flirt with teles from time to time lol.

The OV bridge (alnico 3) doesn't do the ear piercing highs, just right enough amount of twang. The '58 PV bridge (alnico 5) on a Baja 60s I used to own was much twangier and too much for me.
