Over the years I've used some pretty high-end pickups (Fralins, Duncans, VooDoo, Suhr, etc.).

I recently bought a cheap Mexican Tele with a b-bender in it. I got it playing real well but the pickups in it were appalling.

I didn't want to throw too much money at a low-end instrument. At half the price of boutique, I thought what the heck and bought a set.

My goodness, they are nice. Very chimey, clear, harmonically rich and, dare I say, very "Tele". Very happy with my purchase.

Couldn't agree more! I just put some Fender Original Vintage pickups in my Squier VM Thinline (the stock Duncan Designed pups just weren't cutting it for me), and I am super happy with the OV's. Fantastic Tele tones out of these pickups! All three p/u selections sound awesome.

As you say,"Very chimey, clear, harmonically rich and, dare I say, very "Tele". Very happy with my purchase."

I couldn't have put it better...

Usually you have to optimize for p/ups alone or together. The OVs sound great both alone and in combo.

What a beautiful-looking guitar. As my Welsh colleague would say, "There's lovely."

    What colour is that?

    I keep saying this.

About 8 or so years ago on this site OVs were considered top class. It just became a sort of fad to assume that 'tone' only existed in top money hand-made pickups made by this or that guru, and OVs lost credibility for no reason whatsoever. Maybe because they are relatively cheap and made by a big company?

I still rate them among the best.

OVs went into my MIM, and I couldn't be happier (far as I know...)

While I don't need a set right now, I'm so tempted because Amazon has them cheap.

    Must...restrain...mouse hand

I bought my set at big discount off ebay. When I put them in the guitar my wife noticed how nice it sounded. I told her the guy I bought them from had 6 sets for sale. She asked "How many did you get?" I told her just the one and she asked "why?".

If there is even a chance you may get/make another Tele in the next few years, I'd get a discounted set to put in a drawer.

I love the OV's and Nocasters. Who would have thought that Fender would know how to make Telecaster pickups ? ;)

The OV's are great. Right now I have a set of OV's a set of Keystones and whatever comes in the 62 Reissue...

I would like to try some Nocaster pickus (I want to get a Nocaster eventually) and maybe some OC Duff Planksters...

I liked mine too, but the Duncan Antiquity bridge and the OC Duff Guardsman neck pup I installed are way better for my taste.

Beautiful Axe ya got there! When I was Tele shopping, I almost bought that same model, but then I found a 2000 Mim Standard that has Major Mojo. I put OVs on, along with a 3 saddle ashtray, LOVE the tone! OVs are fantastic - just watch those prices tho, they tend to be all over the map.
