A local guy has one of these with the two foot switches for $200.

    Are these amps decent?

It will just be for at home practicing.

Edited to add that I currently have an old Marshall VS100, a Line 6 Amplifi 150 and am running Amplitube 4 with headphones as well.

A number of us have the Mustang III V2. It is a decent amp that makes decent sounds, especially at lower volumes.

If I am not mistaken, the IV is just a III with more power (150 vs 100 watts) and two 12s rather than 1.

It should work well for home. It is a decent sized amp.

Well worth 200. I was given one last November. I love it.

I love my Mustang II V2 for lo volume practicing. The Mustang III and IV are supposed to sound much better, due to better speakers than that I and II models. It sounds like a good deal at 200$. It would bet that puppy would get loud enough I peel the paint from your walls at home!

They're pretty good reliable amps for home use and gigs. I've got two Mustang iiis and used them lots until recently, when I got the Gt100, which didn't sound as nice to me. I'm now mostly using a Laney Cub but will probably give the Mustangs an outing soon.

I'd buy the iv at that price.

Overkill I know, but this seems like a good deal.

they are just the big dog of the mustang line (size and volume wise)

that sounds like a decent price... I love my III

That's definitely overkill for home practice, unless you like to practice really loud. That price is fair, but I wouldn't call it a super deal. I'd be surprised if you can't find an M I, II, or III for considerably less, with a bit of patience. The going price on CL for MIs here in Seattle (which is a spendy town) is around $60, MIIs for $80-120, and MIIIs for $140-$170. Unless you really like the sound of two 12s, why pay for a ton of power you're never going to use?

I will say, though, that my Mustang II still surprises me with how good it sounds compared to newer modeling amps. It isn't better than a Vox VTX or a Katana, but I think Mustangs reign in their price range.

BTW, I heard the speakers in the 4x12 Mustang V cab are not that great. (There are different speakers in the IV combo.)
